D2ET organises clustering workshop at Sustainable Places 2025

As part of the Sustainable Places 2025 conference in Milan, the National Centre of Excellence in Research D2ET – Data-Driven Energy Transition, organised a clustering workshop gathering several European R&I projects.

The session focused on data-driven approaches and digital twins supporting planning, resilience, and decision-making in the transition to sustainable energy systems.

The workshop explored how these tools can enhance planning and decision-making for Europe’s energy transition, showcasing initiatives developing digital platforms, advanced analytics, and interoperable modelling frameworks to anticipate and assess future energy system scenarios.

Discussions also addressed how digitalisation strengthens the resilience and reliability of energy networks from improving situational awareness and real-time response to disruptions, to enabling flexibility, decentralised resources, and active user participation.

By connecting researchers, infrastructure operators, market actors, and public authorities, the session fostered a shared understanding of the role of digital technologies in building a smarter, more resilient, and inclusive energy system.

The workshop benefited from the active involvement of researchers and members of the D2ET consortium, who presented their work, shared insights, and engaged in meaningful exchanges with sister initiatives.

This first clustering initiative under D2ET represents a step toward strengthening collaboration with related European projects and building a shared innovation ecosystem around data and digital twin technologies for the energy domain.
